We will like to say THANK YOU for having your ward(s) join us for the International Summer Splash at the Caleb British International School. Enrolment is still on for as many that still want to join. The Summer Coordinators have put together a great package just for your wards to have a remarkable summer experience. The previous week was awesome and we believe the next five weeks will be better with an array of events lined up to ensure your wards have fun learning experience. It is noteworthy to mention that our last WAEC result was one of the best in the country with 100% success. The International Summer Splash is the beginning of another journey to set a new record.
Summer
holiday is a good opportunity to prepare your wards for academic excellence
with series of academically enriching programmes. Help your wards make the most
of this summer by registering them for this
life-changing experience that will shape their future. Join us today on
this adventure for the remaining five weeks! Boarding facilities also
available.
The International Summer Splash has been a great learning experience mixed with fun filled activities. Summer learning is important to your children because it helps prepare them for the coming school year, learning specific skills and also offers them a platform to interact with children from other schools, countries and continent which will greatly improve their interpersonal skills.
Our morning sessions from Monday to Friday (with exception of
Thursday) have been strictly academically enriching classes comprised of the
core subjects with inclusion of Maths and English language (and the sciences
for the junior students). The afternoon session have been scheduled for sports
and academy.
On Tuesday
afternoon, the students attended the Chess Academy. Chess is
extremely helpful in brain development, particularly when it is played
regularly from a very early age. Chess greatly aids in developing the muscles
of the brain because it involves different areas of the brain and engaging in
these board games directly contributes towards the sharpening of the brain.
Some of the important
benefits that regular playing of chess avails the children are enumerated
below:
1.
Facilitating improvement in the learning,
thinking, analytical and decision-making ability of the child.
2.
It teaches children the skill of
strategizing, and also helps them learn the importance of foresight, and
planning.
3.
It teaches children the importance of being
disciplined in life.
4.
Boosts the self-confidence of children,
which is extremely essential for every child’s growth.
5.
It equips children and adults alike with
the ability to analysis, research, and asses situations before making
decisions. Such an exercise provides mental clarity to the child. Mental
clarity and mental dexterity is required for solving problems, analysing
consequences, and formulating future tactics.
6.
Children who played chess from an early
age exhibit extraordinary memory skills.
7.
It aids increased concentration and a
higher academic performance of the child.
In a whole, playing the
game of chess is essential for transforming a child into a responsible,
disciplined, and wise human being.
Aerobic exercise is an integral part of the International Summer Splash. Before classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the students engage in Aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is important for them because it helps keep their heart, lungs, and blood vessels healthy. It helps them keep physically fit Children who exercise tend to have:
•
Better heart and lung fitness
•
Lower levels of body fat
•
Stronger bones and muscles
•
Fewer symptoms of depression
•
Better chances of being healthy adults free from chronic disease.
On Thursdays we have a
variety of activities laid out. Last Thursday we hosted three different
sessions. The first session was a segment in our series of line up empowerment
classes. It was Make-up class for movie production facilitated by the
Jireh-Bele Int’l Ltd.
The second session
was Public Speaking facilitated by Pst. (Mrs) Chinelo Philips of Clay Temple
Ministries. We saw the need to elevate speaking to the same level as reading
and writing, hence the inclusion in the summer programme. Being able to speak
persuasively is a vital skill, and not just for politicians, business leaders
and teachers.
It is important for everyone because
almost everyone will, at some point in their lives, have to persuade others. A
clear, confident speaking voice is an essential life skill that fosters
self-esteem and personal confidence. The session was well delivered by Pst.
(Mrs) Chinelo Philips and the students want her to come back for another
session on Public Speaking.
The third session on Thursday was facilitated by Ms Ajibike
Makanjuola of the Sovereign Mind Consult on the topic: Becoming the BEST version of you… It was an adventure into
self-discovery. The Sovereign Mind Consult will be back
next Thursday for yet another interesting session.
On Monday 30th
July, 2018 classes will resume for the second week. This Thursday there will be
a film show with free popcorn and drinks for viewers. The title of the movie is
Black Panther.
Thursday of the third
